Since we make food for your dogs and our dogs on a daily basis, we celebrate this fantastic holiday every day! As we start the great month of November, we want to concentrate on a couple of themes for this month. It's Good Nutrition Month. We will be sharing helpful tips on ingredients that you can add to your dog's current diet that can amp up it in a snap. It's also Harvest Month. We will be publishing several new recipes here on our blog that feature fall harvest favorites.
Today's recipe "Sweetpo Neato Meat Cakes" uses a fall favorite, sweet potato, to create a cute meat cake that can be made for any size of dog. Here's a review of this new, easy recipe.
In this recipe, we use:
1 medium sweet potato
3 tbsp. flax seed
1/8 tsp. ginger
1 lb. ground beef
These ingredients can be switched out if your dog has an allergy. Substitute rutabaga for the sweet potato or maybe turkey for the beef.
Following the recipe, we combine all of the ingredients except the sweet potato and spread them in a cupcake tin.
When making this recipe, I realized that all of the normal sized cupcake tins I own are more than 60 years old. I inherited them from my grandmother. While they make everything taste great, they are most certainly not photo ready. I found this large muffin tin in the cabinet. This size would be great for large dogs.
Once everything is cooled, I piped the sweet potato on top. Since it's really a glorified frosting, don't feel compelled to make them this fancy. Smoothing the potato on top will taste just the same for your dog!
Here's the complete recipe card. Bone Appetit!
