Part 2 in Our Meals using Christmas Colors series brings us White, a blank pallet. We use our white ingredients not only for their nutritional value, but for what they bring to the entire meal food bar. We can mix turnips or daikon with a host of other fruits and vegetables to create fun, festive colors. For example, in the food bars we’re making this week, we combined turnips with blackberries to create our version of a pretty, purple pate. We combined the daikon with peas to create green deliciousness. Crafting healthy meals is what we love to do and we also love to make it fun.
For our White Colors, we chose turnips and daikon. Here are more details on these Wild, White, Wholesome Goodies:
Turnip – Packed with anti-oxidants, turnips help fight cancer by aiding the liver in processing of carcinogens. They are low in calories so our pups can feel fuller longer. Turnips also help reduce body odor.
Daikon– Daikon is a really a giant radish, used mostly in Asia. We use it to aid in digestion. It helps the kidneys be more efficient. It aids with congestion in the lungs by breaking down mucus or phlegm and allowing it to pass out of the body. Daikon also helps keep the body’s pH balanced.
