February is American Heart Month and we’ve decided that it should go to the dogs! This week we’re going to share tips to help your hound get heart smart. We’ll focus on food and movement to help your dog feel his best and they might help you too!
Day 5 - In our Food Tips, we’ll focus on Apples. For our Movement Tips, we’ll talk about making a play date with a pup pal.
Food Tips: Apples –
Where do I start? Apples are such a great ingredient to add to your dog’s diet. Apples are rich in a fiber that keeps cholesterol moving through your dog’s body rather than stick to blood vessels. They have no sodium so they keep moisture flowing throughout the body. Apples can be added to your dog’s diet peeled and cored: Raw, just slice them up; dehydrated, allows for a crunchy treat; or cooked, boiled with a bit of cinnamon and pureed to make applesauce. Any apple variety is great.
