Signature Flavors – Sweet Potato and Green Beans

April 19, 2017

|

Lisa Hennessy, Your Pet Chef

Our 4 Basic Flavors series continues today with a focus on Sweet Potato and Green Beans. When we first launched our raw food bar program, these flavors were designed to do the following:

  1. Provide healthy fresh alternatives to dog owners.

  2. Provide identifiable ingredients to dog owners.

  3. Create varied colors to make dog food interesting. Forget the brown – bring on the red, green, and orange!

In this series, we’ll discuss the benefits of each flavor’s ingredients and share some additional insights for each recipe. We hope you enjoy getting a peek inside our recipe creation process.

Our third flavor is Sweet Potato and Green Beans. We combined this with turkey and turkey liver for today’s entry. As with all of our Signature Flavors, we can combine them with other standard proteins.

Sweet Potato and Green Beans are such a super blend of nutrient rich ingredients. Here are some of the key benefits:

Sweet Potato:

  • Help reduce inflammation throughout the body.

  • Help fight cancer and diabetes.

  • Contains a lot of Vitamin D which keeps bones strong.

  • Keeps your dog’s body hydrated with its fiber.

Green Beans:

  • Boost the immune system with their powerful antioxidants.

  • Are packed with Vitamins K and A which keep bones strong.

  • Along with sweet potatoes, they combine for a powerful duo to help in weight loss.

Turkey is a bland protein that most dogs digest easily and is great for those with upset stomachs. It’s very low in calories and fat.

We combine these ingredients and make them into our custom food bars. Shown are our small food bars which are 2.5 oz. each. These have been freeze dried.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our third entry in our Signature Flavors series. Tomorrow we’ll take a look at Zucchini and Radish. If you’d like us to make food for your dog, start here. Thanks so much.
