This week we’re asking – “Can my dog eat that?” Our focus will be on fruits and vegetables that are coming into season over the couple of weeks. These items will most likely be on sale and easily available for you to freshen up your pup’s diet.
First up – Nectarines, peaches, and plums.
A sweet treat for your pup for sure! Only down side is the pit, which can be toxic if consumed en masse. I know that some people who have peach, plum, or nectarine trees on their property are very careful when letting their pup’s near them as we all know our pups can be quick to eat of the fruit that has fallen to the ground.
Our dogs like this trio of fruits as they offer different textures and flavors. Here are some easy recipes to share with your dog:
Slice up a peach and freeze the slices. This makes a refreshing end of summer treat!
Slice up a plum and nectarine. Puree until smooth in your food processor. Mix with 3-4 ounces of vanilla yogurt and freeze. Another summer treat!
Slice up one peach, nectarine, and plum. Place on a cookie sheet in a 250 degree oven and bake until dry. You’ve got some Fruit Jerky!
