In Part 2 of our blog series, Tiny Dog Food Bars we’re detailing the importance of the ingredients we selected for this product line. Let’s get right to it.
Proteins – Many Tiny Dogs suffer from Congenital Portosystemic Shunts as we shared in yesterday’s post. The recommendation on diet for this condition is low protein. We’ve used very high quality proteins and slightly tweaked our recipes. We use 3 proteins: beef, chicken, and turkey. We selected these proteins because:
Beef has a higher calorie and fat count. This will help add needed fat into your Tiny Dog’s diet which helps keep her coat shiny and joints working properly.
Chicken is a lean protein, very low in calories. This helps balance out the calories your Tiny Dog eats over the course of a week.
Turkey is right in between beef and chicken. It has a moderate calorie count and does have some beneficial fats as well.
Fruits and Vegetables – We carefully selected these ingredients to provide the most stable absorption of carbohydrates and sugars for your Tiny Dog. Each of these ingredients will help keep your Tiny Pup’s blood sugar level steady between feedings. Some of the selected ingredients are:
Sweet potato – a perfect balance of sugars and carbohydrates. This ingredient helps keep energy level steady.
Apple – Loaded with essentials vitamins, apples also contribute sugars that are slowly absorbed.
Orange – We don’t use many oranges in our large sized dog food bars but they are perfect for Tiny Dogs. Packed with Vitamin C, the sugars are great for maintaining energy levels without giving a “rush” causing trembling.
Berries – All berries contain anti-oxidants which are perfect for overall health. We selected black berries for this recipe as they contain the most anti-oxidants of all berries.
Broccoli – A fantastic cancer fighting ingredient, its carbohydrates absorb slowly allowing for a sustained energy level.
