Our review of the 2018 Food Trends at Your Pet Chef concludes today with Part 5– Micro Targeted Foods. This strategy in food making allows the Chef to create meals designed to help your pup tackle a specific condition. By using carefully selected ingredients, your pup can eat his way to feeling better – and full of course.
Here are some of the additional ingredients we currently add to several of our meal programs to help certain clients:
1. Turmeric – This spice is great for reducing inflammation. We use it in our meal plans to help reduce the pain and swelling of Arthritis. 2. Ginger – A perfect spice to help reduce stomach upset. Have a pup that gets car sick? Make some treats using ginger to reduce the chances of an eventful road trip. Here are some recipes you can try. 3. Egg – We add egg to some of our recipes to increase the calorie count and bump up the protein level even higher. You can add egg to your pup’s food too – many people add a hardboiled egg to their pup’s meals. Just beware – there may be some “gas” in your pup’s future. 4. Taurine – Found naturally in liver, this amino acid has been proven to help reduce the occurrences of seizures in dogs. We add to our kitty food as felines need more of this amino acid in their diets. 5. Cooling foods – If your pup runs “hot” – this can mean your dog always had red, inflamed ears, skin irritations, paw tenderness – using only “cooling” foods can have an immediate impact on the health and comfort of your pup. Swap out chicken for beef. Leave out sweet potatoes and use zucchini instead. Small changes can have a big impact.
